Francis Atwoli Calls Out Linda Mwananchi Over “Ex-Wife” Political Stunt
Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has hit back at the Linda Mwananchi political team following a viral video showing his former wife joining their camp.
Addressing a public gathering in the Western region, the vocal trade unionist dismissed the group’s actions as a desperate attempt to score cheap political points.

Atwoli clarified that while he was previously married to the woman in question and shares children with her, the two long parted ways. He described her parading as his “wife” during political rallies as unfortunate, misleading, and dishonest.
“We were married before and have children together, but we stopped being together,” Atwoli stated, urging the public not to be distracted by political theatrics. “Kenyans should be careful and not be swayed by such drama.”
The veteran labor leader has been a staunch supporter of President William Ruto, consistently drumming up support for the President’s 2027 reelection bid.
In recent public appearances, Atwoli has repeatedly urged Nairobi Senator and former ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna to drop his presidential ambitions and back President Ruto instead.
The rivalry between Atwoli and the Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi movement has escalated rapidly, particularly after the group launched a high-profile tour across the Western region.
Atwoli accused the opposition outfit of using cheap stunts to distract voters and manipulate local sentiments.
Calling on voters to focus on national development rather than political optics, Atwoli cautioned Kenyans to look past propaganda as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
