He noted that the Kenyan Constitution clearly outlines the role of Cabinet Secretaries as apolitical implementers of government policy, warning that any deviation from this principle risks weakening public trust in state institutions.
Gachagua further claimed that recent trends in the political landscape show increasing attempts by some leaders to use senior government officials as political mobilizers, a move he described as dangerous for national unity and institutional integrity.
He urged President William Ruto’s administration to ensure that all Cabinet Secretaries remain neutral, especially as the country gradually shifts attention toward early political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, allowing Cabinet Secretaries to openly participate in political activities creates unfair advantages and undermines competition in the democratic space.
He insisted that public officers must serve all citizens equally, regardless of political affiliation.
The former Deputy President also used the platform to call for adherence to the rule of law and respect for constitutional boundaries, saying Kenya’s democracy depends on disciplined leadership across all levels of government.
