Sifuna Hosts Wamalwa Family in Nairobi Following Absence from Kitale Book Launch
NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna met with Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa and his family at his office to formally receive a copy of the newly launched biography of former Vice-President, the late Michael Kijana Wamalwa.
The visit comes shortly after Sifuna was unable to attend the annual memorial service and official book launch in Kitale.
The high-profile event at the late statesman’s Milimani home in Trans Nzoia County brought together retired President Uhuru Kenyatta—who wrote the foreword and served as chief guest—and several key figures from the united opposition.
Despite Sifuna’s physical absence in Kitale, his popularity was evident when crowds erupted in chants of his name during the ceremony, prompting a lighthearted reaction from the former president.

Seeking to honour the late leader’s enduring legacy, Eugene Wamalwa, accompanied by his niece Alice, presented Senator Sifuna with the book titled “My Country First”. The biography chronicles the late Vice-President’s political journey, his sacrifices in public service, and his relentless pursuit of national cohesion.
Expressing his appreciation, Senator Sifuna reaffirmed his political solidarity with the family and praised the late icon’s contributions to Kenya’s democratic development.
“Ndugu Eugene Wamalwa and his niece Alice dropped by the office today to present me with the Late Michael Kijana Wamalwa’s book ‘My Country First’. I thank the entire Wamalwa family for their contribution to this Nation’s history and hope that we will continue walking together to see the dreams Mike had for the country become reality,” Sifuna stated.
The meeting underscores the continuing bond between the opposition figures as they pledge to uphold the values of unity and national duty championed by Kijana Wamalwa.
