President William Ruto has called on the international community to pay closer attention to Africa, urging global leaders to recognize the continent’s growing significance in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Speaking during a high-level international forum, Ruto stressed that Africa remains central to the global conversation on peace, security, climate change, health, and economic transformation.
He said the continent can no longer be treated as a peripheral player in global affairs.
“The international community must pay attention to Africa,” Ruto said, emphasizing that many of the world’s emerging opportunities and challenges are deeply tied to the continent’s future.
The President pointed out that Africa is home to one of the fastest-growing populations in the world, a youthful workforce, and vast natural resources that could shape the future of global development.
However, he warned that without meaningful investment, strategic partnerships and fair representation in global institutions, Africa risks being left behind.
Ruto highlighted the need for stronger collaboration in tackling insecurity, disease outbreaks and climate-related disasters, noting that African nations continue to bear the brunt of global crises despite contributing the least to many of them.

He also called for reforms in international financial systems, arguing that African countries face unfair borrowing terms and limited access to climate financing.
According to him, the current global structure has disadvantaged developing economies and slowed down progress on critical projects.
The Kenyan leader further urged developed nations to support Africa’s industrialization agenda, particularly in manufacturing, agriculture, and renewable energy.
He said empowering Africa economically would not only benefit the continent but also strengthen global stability and supply chains.
Ruto’s remarks come at a time when African leaders are pushing for greater inclusion in decision-making bodies such as the United Nations Security Council and international financial institutions.
Political analysts say Ruto’s statement reflects growing frustration among African governments over what they perceive as unequal treatment in global diplomacy and economic policies.
His call is expected to resonate strongly across the continent, where leaders have increasingly demanded a stronger voice in shaping international policies.
As geopolitical tensions, health emergencies, and climate concerns continue to escalate worldwide, Ruto maintained that ignoring Africa is no longer an option, insisting that the continent’s future is directly linked to the world’s prosperity and security.
