Ndindi Nyoro Slams Ruto, Alleges Plan to Sell Kenya’s Assets During UNGA Trip
MACHAKOS, Kenya — People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader and Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, has launched a blistering attack on President William Ruto, accusing his administration of plotting to auction off crucial national assets, including the country’s vast mineral resources, under the guise of official diplomatic engagements in the United States.
Speaking at a political rally in Kathiani, Machakos County, on Friday, September 25, 2026, the former Budget and Appropriations Committee Chair took issue with President Ruto’s ongoing tour in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting.
Nyoro claimed that behind the public facade of high-level diplomatic talks, the administration is actively pursuing arrangements to dispose of state assets without benefiting ordinary citizens.
“Kenya’s assets, including our minerals, belong to the people and must be protected,” Nyoro told the crowd, warning that the country’s natural wealth must be safeguarded against external exploitation and non-transparent government deals.

Beyond economic management, the vibrant political leader censured the Kenya Kwanza government over escalating national insecurity, particularly highlighting recent lawlessness and instability in Samburu. He faulted the administration for failing to fulfill its primary duty of protecting lives and property, urging citizens not to remain silent while vulnerable communities suffer.
“We cannot sit back and watch as insecurity continues to affect our people. The government has a fundamental responsibility to protect every Kenyan,” he emphasized.
Turning to the economic burdens facing households, Nyoro criticized the government’s unsustainable borrowing practices. He questioned the utilization of huge foreign loans, pointing out that rising public debt has failed to translate into visible development projects or economic relief for ordinary citizens.
He alleged that public funds are benefiting individuals rather than the collective good, calling for immediate transparency and accountability in national debt management.
On the sector of education, the Kiharu lawmaker accused the Ruto administration of undermining basic learning through persistent underfunding. Nyoro reiterated PPK’s commitment to providing free secondary education starting in January 2028 under an opposition-led government, promising to ease the heavy financial strain on struggling families.
Nyoro also defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta against ongoing political attacks, urging the current administration to take full responsibility for its governance record instead of continually assigning blame to its predecessor.
Aligning himself with the broader opposition, he praised Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka, signaling a united front aimed at taking on the ruling party in the 2027 General Election.
Looking ahead to the next electoral cycle, the PPK leader called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to demonstrate total preparedness and independence to ensure free, fair, and credible elections. He urged voters to remain vigilant, participate actively in the democratic process, and guard their votes against potential electoral malpractices.
