Former Kakamega County Senator and current Deputy Party Leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), Hon. Cleophas Wakhungu Malalah, once again demonstrated his resilience and fiery political spirit during a funeral service in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County.
The outspoken politician was attending the burial of former Bungoma High School principal Andanje when drama unfolded, as his microphone was abruptly switched off midway through his address.
Unshaken, Malalah’s team swiftly replaced the faulty microphone, allowing him to continue with his speech.

What followed was a no-holds-barred attack on President William Ruto and the entire Kenya Kwanza administration, with Malalah making it clear that his voice would not be silenced, regardless of attempts by his political rivals.
Taking the podium with renewed vigor, Malalah accused President Ruto of making endless proclamations without delivering tangible results to Kenyans.
“The healthcare system in this country is in total disarray,” Malalah declared. “Hospitals across our counties have no medicine, and yet funds are being looted by individuals close to the presidency, especially at the Social Health Authority (SHA). This is unacceptable.”
The DCP deputy leader further questioned the government’s commitment to development in the Western region, accusing Ruto’s administration of sidelining the area despite making lofty promises during campaigns.

Malalah called on Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to “stop playing safe” and demand accountability from the government regarding development projects that were pledged before the 2022 General Election.
“Our people are waiting for better roads, proper infrastructure, and genuine investment in this region. If Musalia cannot stand firm to demand what was promised, then he risks losing the trust of Western Kenyans,” Malalah added.
Turning his guns on National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Malalah demanded transparency regarding corruption claims in Parliament.
Wetang’ula had earlier hinted at the existence of Members of Parliament who are on the take, but Malalah insisted that failing to reveal their names would make the Speaker complicit in the vice.
“Wetang’ula must name those legislators who are corrupt. If he does not, then he becomes part of the syndicate that is stealing from Kenyans,” Malalah charged.
He went further to directly challenge President Ruto to release the names of MPs allegedly receiving bribes to pass government-sponsored bills in Parliament.

“We demand to know these individuals who are betraying Kenyans. Let the list be made public immediately,” he said, drawing applause from the crowd.
Despite the tense moments that threatened to derail his speech, Malalah emerged as the center of attention at the funeral. His boldness and defiance reaffirmed his reputation as one of the most vocal and uncompromising figures in Western Kenya politics.
