Tensions over government infrastructure projects flared during a live television broadcast hosted by news anchor Sam Gituku, where Kajiado Senator Samuel Seki openly challenged the state’s official development narrative.
Gituku introduced the debate by highlighting the government’s announcement regarding the launch of the multimillion-dollar Imaroro–Mashuuru–Isara Road project, valued at five point six billion shillings, which was designed to upgrade critical transport links in the region.
However, Senator Seki swiftly dismissed the high-profile launch as a hollow public relations exercise without actual implementation. The lawmaker insisted that there are zero allocated funds in the national budget for the road’s construction, rendering the project dead on arrival.
Pointing out the complete absence of heavy machinery, equipment, or workforce along the designated route, Seki revealed that not a single tractor had been deployed to the ground since the ceremonial unveiling.
Describing the current state of the thoroughfare, Seki painted a grim picture of a vital transport network left in complete disrepair.
He emphasized that the entire stretch remains in a disastrous state, plagued by severe erosion and dangerous deep potholes that continue to paralyze local transit and economic activities.
According to the senator, local commuters and motorists are left navigating near-impassable conditions daily, despite high-level administrative promises of immediate infrastructural transformation.
The sharp contradiction between state claims and ground realities highlights growing skepticism over government-led development launches across the country.
Opposition voices continue to accuse the administration of conducting symbolic groundbreakings for unbudgeted initiatives to manage public expectations.
Meanwhile, local motorists and residents along the Imaroro–Mashuuru–Isara corridor are left demanding actual roadworks rather than empty political pledges and paper allocations.
