Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Oburu Oginga has broken his silence regarding his travel to the United Kingdom, confirming he is undergoing routine medical checks and assuring supporters that he is in good health.
In a official statement issued to the public, the Siaya Senator clarified that his journey follows medical advice and party consultations for a comprehensive evaluation and period of rest.
Addressing mounting public anxiety and online speculation following a recent brief hospital visit in Nairobi, the veteran politician dismissed health alarms, emphasizing that periodic check-ups naturally come with advancing years.
He expressed full confidence in the party’s institutional strength, noting that the temporary absence serves as a vital test for ODM to demonstrate its operational maturity and administrative readiness without relying solely on individual leadership.
During his period of recuperation abroad, the party’s daily operations will remain under the stewardship of Deputy Party Leaders Paul Simba Arati, the Kisii County Governor, and Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, the Mombasa County Governor.
Working alongside the National Central Committee and the party secretariat, the two county bosses have been tasked with maintaining momentum and executing the party’s strategic programs without interruption.
Among the key upcoming initiatives is the highly anticipated ‘Mwezi wa Baba’ commemorative schedule, set to roll out across the country starting in October.
The month-long calendar of activities is designed to honor the legacy of long-serving opposition titan Raila Odinga through nationwide grassroots engagements, policy dialogues, and community outreach programs.
