Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has leveled sensational allegations against President William Ruto, claiming the Head of State has systematically amassed unprecedented personal wealth while in power.
Speaking during an overseas tour, the Democracy for the Citizens Party leader asserted that Ruto has officially surpassed the collective fortunes of Kenya’s most famous political dynasties.
According to Gachagua, during the height of their political alliance, Ruto privately confided a personal ambition to eclipse the generational wealth held by the families of former presidents Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi within five years.
Gachagua claimed that what initially sounded like an improbable goal has rapidly materialized in less than a full presidential term, though at immense cost to the national economy.
The former second-in-command alleged that Ruto successfully realized his financial ambitions by depleting public reserves and prioritizing personal enrichment over national governance.
He argued that true leadership demands public service rather than utilizing state offices as personal financial ladders, warning that pursuing private riches through executive power inevitably leads to national ruin.
Gachagua positioned these revelations as part of a broader critique by the united opposition, which continues to accuse the current administration of economic mismanagement, rampant corruption, and worsening the cost-of-living crisis for ordinary citizens.
He cautioned voters that the nation is being run dry, predicting that any future administration will face a daunting task rebuilding the country’s depleted resources from scratch.
State House and government allies have consistently dismissed Gachagua’s allegations as bitterness following his political fallout with the president.
Nevertheless, the bold claims add fuel to an increasingly aggressive political environment as opposition figures attempt to dismantle Ruto’s economic record ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
