Fresh Security Directives Issued in Kisumu Following Key County Meeting

Kisumu County Governor has announced a raft of resolutions aimed at strengthening security and improving public safety following a high-level County Security meeting convened in the interest of residents, the business community, and visitors.

The meeting, chaired by the governor, brought together key security and county officials, including Kisumu County Commissioner Ramadhan Mwabudzo, alongside members of the County Executive and other stakeholders.

The discussions focused on addressing emerging security concerns and ensuring Kisumu remains a safe and conducive environment for business, investment, and daily life.

Speaking after the meeting, the governor emphasized that security remains a top priority for his administration, noting that peace and stability are critical for economic growth and social development.

He said the county leadership was committed to working closely with national government security agencies to address challenges affecting the region.

Among the key resolutions reached was the strengthening of coordination between county officials and security agencies to enhance surveillance, improve response time to incidents and boost intelligence sharing.

Leaders also resolved to intensify crackdowns on criminal activities, particularly in areas that have been identified as security hotspots.

The governor further underscored the importance of engaging local communities in maintaining peace, calling on residents to cooperate with authorities by reporting suspicious activities.

He noted that community policing initiatives would be enhanced as part of efforts to build trust between law enforcement officers and the public.

The business community, which has in the past expressed concerns over insecurity and disruptions, welcomed the move, saying it would help create a stable environment for trade and investment.

Kisumu, as one of Kenya’s fastest-growing urban centers and a major economic hub in the western region, has increasingly attracted investors and tourists, making security a key pillar of its growth.

County Commissioner Mwabudzo reaffirmed the national government’s commitment to supporting Kisumu’s development agenda through effective security management.

He assured residents that law enforcement agencies would remain vigilant and responsive.

The governor urged all stakeholders, including residents, traders, and visitors, to support the resolutions made during the meeting, saying collective responsibility is crucial in building a safer and more prosperous Kisumu County.
