Family Speaks Out Following Tragic Helicopter Crash Killing Tycoon Wicknell Chivayo and Wife
Prominent Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, have died following a private helicopter crash in Marondera rural, Mashonaland East Province.
Family spokesperson Herbert Chivayo confirmed the tragic loss, expressing deep shock over the sudden demise of the couple. Speaking to national broadcaster ZBC News, Herbert stated that the family was struggling to process the devastating incident.
“We are at a loss of words after the tragic incident,” Herbert said in his statement, representing one of the first official responses from those close to the late tycoon.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the private aircraft went down on Wednesday evening, September 30. ZRP Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi reported that the helicopter was carrying six occupants at the time of the crash.
