The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) faction led by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has strongly condemned the death of 28 year old Vincent Ayomo during the party’s Linda Mwananchi rally in Kitengela on Sunday.
According to party officials, Ayomo succumbed to gunshot injuries allegedly inflicted by police officers while attempting to disperse the large crowd that had gathered for the event.
The incident has sparked outrage among ODM supporters, who are demanding accountability from the authorities.
Sifuna described the incident as unacceptable and tragic, calling on law enforcement to investigate the circumstances that led to Ayomo’s death.
Our rallies are meant to be platforms for democratic engagement, not scenes of violence,” he said.
Eyewitnesses claim that the rally, which drew thousands of participants, turned chaotic after police attempted to enforce crowd control measures.
