Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thangwa has publicly claimed that Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro is President William Ruto’s designated running mate for the 2027 General Election. Speaking during an interview on the Alpha House Podcast, the vocal lawmaker doubled down on his criticisms against the former National Assembly Budget Committee chairman, describing the People’s Prosperity Party (PPK) leader as a state-sponsored political project created to undermine opposition unity.
The senator alleged that the Kiharu legislator operates as a covert operative tasked with dividing voting blocs and weakening alternative political formations from within.
Maintaining that events will eventually validate his claims, the Kiambu representative cautioned opposition alliance leaders against integrating the PPK leader into their coalition strategy. The allegations echo growing suspicion among key figures allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who contend that new political outfits emerging from Mount Kenya serve to fragment regional voting strength.
The claims highlight escalating political tension within Mount Kenya, where competing factions are aggressively positioning themselves for regional leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle. Other opposition figures have similarly characterized the newly launched PPK as an extension of the ruling party disguised as an independent outfit.
The Kiharu lawmaker has firmly dismissed the assertions, insisting that his political party stands firmly in opposition and remains dedicated to challenging the current administration in 2027. He maintains that his political engagements aim to offer alternative governance solutions rather than serve external executive interests.
However, the continued exchange underscores deepening mistrust among political actors in the region as major alignments consolidate power and vie for strategic control over critical voting blocs ahead of the upcoming presidential contest.
