Babu Owino Reacts as Sifuna Secures Approval to Reserve ‘Linda Mwanainchi Movement’ Name
NAIROBI, Kenya — The Mwanainchi Party leader, Honorable Babu Owino, has congratulated Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following a milestone decision by the Registrar of Political Parties approving the name reservation for the Linda Mwanainchi Movement.
The green light comes after a formal letter emerged from the political parties registrar, acting on an order from the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal that set aside an earlier refusal. The tribunal ruled that the initial decision lacked legal justification and violated citizens’ constitutional rights to form political associations.
Welcoming the move, Babu Owino applauded Sifuna and the leadership behind the movement for securing the 90-day name reservation window. The Embakasi East Member of Parliament praised the clearance as a major victory for democratic freedom and political plurality in the country.

“Congratulations to the Linda Mwanainchi Movement team for this well-deserved victory. Securing the name reservation is a crucial triumph for the alternative voice that Kenyans have been yearning for,” Owino stated.
The approval has been warmly received across opposition ranks, where leaders have eagerly awaited formal steps toward registering the outfit as a fully fledged political party. Opposition allies view the name reservation as an important building block ahead of future electoral engagements.
The development unfolds alongside Babu Owino’s own grassroots mobilization drive. For weeks, the lawmaker has been rallying support nationwide under his platform, The Mwanainchi Party (TMP), urging citizens to register as members. Addresssing potential friction, Owino clarified that his platform and Sifuna’s movement complement each other in championing the rights of ordinary citizens.
With both leaders expanding their grassroots reach, the opposition block appears poised to present a unified front for upcoming political contests.
