Linda Mwananchi faction has become one of the movements to reckon in the country as Kenyans prepare for the forthcoming general elections to be held in August next year.
The movement formed majorly by young politicians and most politicians who were axed from the Orange Democratic Movement Party, has come with strong waves that is giving President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance Government sleepless nights ahead of elections.
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has strongly defended the origin and rapidly growing influence of the Linda Mwananchi movement, characterizing it as a true grassroots initiative birthed directly by everyday citizens rather than political elites.
Speaking on the rise of the political outfit, Owino emphasized that ordinary Kenyans initiated the cause out of a pressing need to demand accountability, economic relief, and better governance amid rising living costs and widespread unemployment.
According to the lawmaker, what started as a localized public pushback against economic hardship has successfully expanded into a formidable political powerhouse.
He noted that the collective drive of citizens facing poverty, high taxation, and lack of opportunities fueled the movement’s transformation into a major force capable of shaping the national political landscape.
By rallying around constitutional principles of oversight and public participation, the group has gained significant traction across various counties.
Owino further highlighted that the movement’s strength lies in its strong alignment with the struggles of the common mwananchi. He pointed out that young people, traders, and struggling families recognized the necessity of taking charge of their democratic destination, thereby driving the movement’s nationwide momentum.
This grassroots foundation, he argued, gives the group the moral authority and public backing needed to challenge political excesses, demand policy changes, and advocate for transformative leadership ahead of future general elections.
As Linda Mwananchi continues its countrywide mobilization, Owino reaffirmed that the initiative remains firmly anchored in the aspirations of the voters who built it.
He expressed confidence that its origin as a citizen-led movement ensures its resilience and positions it as a decisive political entity moving forward.
