A storm is brewing in Kisii Town as a high-profile land deal involving a prominent local figure takes a dramatic turn. What began as a community’s dream to expand its sanctuary has now spiraled into a bitter struggle for justice, leaving hundreds of local believers caught in a web of financial strain and unfulfilled promises.

As tension mounts and anger boils over, serious allegations have emerged regarding the disappearance of millions of shillings and suspicious calls behind closed doors. With traditional legal routes hitting an unexpected impasse, the affected community is now taking desperate measures to ensure their voices are heard at the highest levels of power.

A Dream Deferred

Members of the Gospel Embassy Chapel in Kisii Town are demanding an immediate Ksh.7 million refund from an aspiring Bobasi MP. According to church elders, the funds were paid to secure an adjacent parcel of land intended for a new mega-church project. To fund the purchase, the congregation partnered with a financial institution—a loan they have diligently serviced for nearly six years, only to be left without the land or their money.

Frustration and Political Interference

The situation escalated when local law enforcement arrested the politician and brought him to the Kisii Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters. However, church members and their legal representatives allege that a senior government official intervened via a phone call, leading to the suspect’s prompt release. The investigative file was subsequently transferred to Nairobi, fueling outrage among the faithful who claim the justice system is being manipulated.

An Appeal to the Highest Authority

Disillusioned by the stalled investigation and the politician’s refusal to address the allegations, the congregation is now appealing directly to President William Ruto and national investigative agencies. They are calling for an immediate, transparent investigation to hold those responsible accountable and recover the Ksh.7 million raised through the sacrifices of ordinary citizens.
