Malava constituency has become the latest hotbed of political activity as former Kakamega Senator and Democracy For The Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader, Cleophas Wakhungu Malalah, stormed the region in a spirited campaign to drum up support for the party’s candidate, Edger Busiega.
The rally, held at Samitsi market on Saturday, pulled a massive crowd of enthusiastic supporters who braved the scorching sun and later rains to listen to Malalah and Busiega articulate their vision.
The show of force comes just a day after a dramatic incident where Democratic Action Party (DAP) leader, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, and his candidate, Seth Panyako, were forced to flee after being heckled and chased away by angry residents. The crowd reportedly told the leaders that Malava had already decided to rally behind the DCP candidate.
Addressing the charged gathering, Malalah praised the people of Malava for standing firm and declaring their political direction early enough.

He pleaded with residents to vote overwhelmingly for Edger Busiega in the upcoming by-election, insisting that the young lawyer represented the future of Malava.
“Malava deserves youthful and energetic leadership, not retirees who will just go to Nairobi to sleep in Parliament.
Busiega is the right candidate for you because he understands the challenges of our people and is ready to deliver with zeal and energy,” Malalah said amid cheers from the crowd.
He also used the opportunity to criticize leaders who, according to him, were more interested in political squabbles than in addressing the needs of the people.
Malalah took direct aim at the current Kakamega County administration, accusing the governor of wasting time on petty wars with fellow leaders while launching “funny projects” that fail to take off.
“Leadership is about service delivery, not unnecessary fights. When the time comes in 2027, I urge you to stand with me so that we can transform Kakamega together. But for now, let’s focus on sending Busiega to Parliament because he will be our voice,” he told the residents.
Edger Busiega’s Message To Malava Residents.
On his part, Edger Busiega laid out his agenda for Malava, promising to inject fresh energy into the constituency’s representation in the National Assembly.
As a practicing lawyer, Busiega pledged to use his legislative expertise to push for policies that would uplift the lives of ordinary residents.
“My knowledge in legislation will be an added advantage for Malava. I will fight for laws and opportunities that benefit our people, especially in education and agriculture,” Busiega said.

He promised equitable distribution of bursaries, ensuring that every child in Malava, regardless of background, has an opportunity to pursue education.
He also vowed to work closely with sugar factories in the Western region to establish a weighbridge in Malava. This, he said, would save farmers from the long and costly journeys to deliver cane for weighing, ensuring they get fair returns for their produce.
“The people of Malava have been exploited for too long. With a weighbridge here, we will cut costs for our farmers and bring dignity back to sugarcane farming. Our community deserves this,” Busiega declared, winning loud applause from the gathering.
The rally has shifted the momentum firmly in favor of the DCP, with many observers noting that Malalah’s grassroots influence and fiery rhetoric could tilt the by-election outcome.
For now, all eyes are on Malava constituency as the political contest tightens, with DCP aiming to use the seat as a launching pad for broader influence in Western Kenya politics.
If the reception at Samitsi is anything to go by, Edger Busiega may have already secured an edge over his rivals a development that could mark a turning point for both the DCP and Malalah’s political ambitions.
