Foreign Missions Get a Major Overhaul Under President Ruto

President William Ruto has effected significant changes in Kenya’s Foreign Service, appointing new envoys to several key missions abroad in a move analysts say aims to strengthen the country’s diplomatic footprint and boost economic diplomacy.

The appointments, announced in a statement from State House on Wednesday, cover missions in North America, Europe and key regional capitals in Africa.

Among those named are seasoned diplomats and career public servants who are expected to advance Kenya’s foreign policy priorities, including trade promotion, investment facilitation and strategic partnerships.

Speaking after the appointments were announced, President Ruto emphasized the need for a dynamic and results oriented Foreign Service.

Our foreign missions are vital to our national interests. We need ambassadors who are not just ceremonial representatives, but proactive agents driving trade, investment, and international cooperation,” he said.
