Why Matiang’i Says Kenya Must Unite Now or Pay the Price

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has issued a stirring call for national unity, warning that Kenya stands at a defining crossroads that demands collective responsibility, honest leadership and courage from its citizens.

Matiang’i said the country can no longer afford division, complacency or silence in the face of growing challenges.

The time has come to confront the state of our country,” Matiang’i said, framing unity not as a political slogan but as a moral duty owed to both history and future generations.

Matiang’i, who served in some of the most powerful dockets in the previous administration, argued that Kenya’s problems cannot be solved through factional politics or short term interests.

Instead, he called for a renewed sense of shared purpose that rises above ethnicity, party affiliations and personal ambition.
