Gachagua Demands Murkomen Return Mukurweini Wife Amid Tribalism Row

EMBU, KENYA — Political drama between former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen took a surreal twist this week when Gachagua publicly demanded that Murkomen return his wife.

The escalating feud reached a boiling point during Gachagua’s tour of Embu County. The confrontation follows sharp accusations from Murkomen, who recently publicly faulted Gachagua for playing sectarian politics. Murkomen alleged that the former Deputy President had abandoned national unity in favor of dividing Kenyans along ethnic lines.

Addressing the gathering, Gachagua argued that if Murkomen genuinely believes the Agikuyu community is inherently tribal, he should prove his convictions by returning the wife he married from Mukurweini.

“If you believe the Kikuyu community is tribal, why did you go to Mukurweini to get a wife? Return her to Mukurweini first before you call us tribal,” Gachagua challenged, drawing mixed reactions from the local audience.

The unusual demand quickly went viral across social media platforms, highlighting the personal nature of Kenyan political rivalries. Critics have dismissed Gachagua’s remarks as a sensational distraction, while his supporters view it as a witty defense against claims of regionalism.
