Boni Khalwale Explains How Sifuna Tactically Outsmarted Ruto Camp to Launch The Equitable Party
NAIROBI, Kenya — Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has revealed how opposition allies outmaneuvered government operatives to secure the official registration and unveiling of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s political outfit, The Equitable Party (TEP).
Speaking during the party’s launch ceremony in Nairobi on Sunday, October 4, Khalwale disclosed that key members of the Linda Mwananchi movement executed a strategic political decoy operation.
“Ruto, you are dealing with thinkers,” Khalwale declared during his address. “When we saw that you were planning to frustrate Edwin Sifuna on the issue of the party, we decided to give you decoys.”
According to the veteran legislator, opposition figures deliberately submitted applications for various alternative political outfits to mislead state officials and President William Ruto’s allies, who were actively attempting to block and frustrate Sifuna’s bid to secure a political vehicle for his 2027 presidential ambition.

Khalwale explained that while government intelligence and state apparatus were focused on monitoring and blocking these secondary party applications, the leadership quietly finalized and registered The Equitable Party behind the scenes.
Once state operatives dropped their guard, the movement officially secured TEP, leaving the ruling coalition caught off-guard ahead of Sunday’s official launch.
The event saw Sifuna formally named as TEP’s party leader and flagbearer for the upcoming 2027 presidential election. The ceremony was attended by top political heavyweights, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, signifying a major consolidation within the opposition camp.
The unveiling marks a critical milestone for the Linda Mwananchi movement as it positions TEP as a direct challenge to the incumbent administration ahead of the next general election.
