Babu Owino Returns to Homa Bay, Vows to Oust Wanga and Kaluma in 2027
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, alongside Siaya County Governor James Orengo, made a tense return to Homa Bay County following the chaotic scenes that rocked the region during a recent political tour.
The duo landed in Oyugis to attend the solemn burial service of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer, Steven Onyango, who passed away recently. However, the solemnity of the event quickly gave way to fiery political rhetoric as the leaders addressed residents shortly after the interment.
Taking to the podium, a firm Babu Owino declared political war on Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma and Governor Gladys Wanga ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The outspoken lawmaker vowed to personally ensure that both leaders are roundly defeated at the polls, accusing them of masterminding the violent disruptions aimed at the opposition movement.

According to Owino, Kaluma and Wanga organized and funded local youth to unleash mayhem when the Linda Mwananchi team visited Homa Bay County weeks ago.
During the violent melee, political motorcades were pelted with stones, and several leaders and supporters suffered physical injuries. Owino insisted that such dynamic intimidation tactics would backfire and ultimately cost the duo their political seats.
Governor Orengo echoed similar sentiments, faulting local leaders for weaponizing political differences against fellow regional figures.
The bold declaration by the Embakasi East legislator signals a deepening rift within the region’s political landscape as factional rivalries continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 election cycle. Neither Governor Wanga nor MP Peter Kaluma has issued a formal response to Owino’s latest threat, but the stage is set for a high-stakes political showdown in Homa Bay.
