Latest Mizani Africa Poll: Ruto and Kalonzo Lead 2027 Presidential Race as Sifuna Drops to Third

NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna faces a major political reality check after the latest presidential preference opinion poll released by research firm Mizani Africa showed a significant drop in his popularity.

According to the Mizani Africa survey released on September 25, 2026, President William Ruto maintains a strong lead with 38.7% of voter preference, followed by Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka in second place at 27.5%.

Sifuna, who had previously shown dominant momentum across earlier surveys, has fallen to a distant third with 13.2% support.

The new numbers indicate a drastic shift in the political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election. Analysts suggest the former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General may need to re-evaluate his political strategy if he intends to build a formidable presidential campaign.

Behind the top three contenders, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i secured 7.7% of the votes, while former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recorded 4.4%.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro garnered 3.1%, Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua polled at 0.3%, and former Chief Justice David Maraga managed 0.1%. The survey revealed that 5.0% of respondents remain undecided.

The figures signal growing momentum for both President Ruto’s reelection efforts and Kalonzo Musyoka’s bid to consolidate opposition backing. With undecided voters and a fluid political environment, observers note that strategic realignments and coalition negotiations will prove critical as candidates refine their formulas for 2027.
