President William Ruto on Tuesday received a goodwill message from Chad President Idris Mahamat Deby during a high-level diplomatic meeting held at State House, Nairobi.

The message was delivered by Chad’s Special Envoy, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, who paid a courtesy call on the Kenyan Head of State on behalf of President Deby.

The visit underscored the growing diplomatic engagement between Kenya and Chad as the two African nations seek to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen regional partnerships.

Although the full contents of the goodwill message were not immediately made public, the meeting highlighted the cordial relations that have continued to develop between Nairobi and N’Djamena.

Goodwill messages between heads of state are often used to reaffirm diplomatic ties, discuss areas of mutual interest, and express support on regional and continental matters.

President Ruto welcomed the envoy at State House and reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to working closely with fellow African nations to promote peace, stability, economic integration and sustainable development.

Kenya has consistently positioned itself as a leading voice in regional diplomacy, advocating for stronger cooperation among African states through regional blocs and the African Union.

The visit comes at a time when African leaders are increasingly emphasizing home-grown solutions to continental challenges, including security, trade, climate change, and economic development.

Both Kenya and Chad have played active roles in regional peace initiatives and continue to support efforts aimed at enhancing stability across Africa.

Diplomatic observers note that exchanges of this nature are significant in reinforcing political goodwill and opening avenues for expanded collaboration in sectors such as trade, infrastructure, agriculture, education, security and investment.

Kenya has in recent years intensified its diplomatic outreach across the continent as part of its broader foreign policy agenda to strengthen economic and political partnerships.

The meeting also reflects Kenya’s growing influence in continental affairs under President Ruto’s administration.

Through sustained diplomatic engagement, the government has sought to expand strategic alliances while promoting regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

Special Envoy Tahir Hamid Nguilin conveyed President Deby’s warm greetings and commitment to maintaining the strong friendship between Chad and Kenya.

Such exchanges are viewed as important milestones in fostering trust and enhancing cooperation between governments.

As both countries continue to pursue closer diplomatic and economic relations, the State House meeting is expected to pave the way for further engagements between Nairobi and N’Djamena.

Officials from both sides are likely to continue consultations on issues of shared interest, reinforcing the long-standing friendship between the two nations while advancing Africa’s collective development agenda.
