The announcement came after a joint meeting of the parties’ National Executive Committees (NECs) held on February 18.

Leaders from both sides released a detailed communiqué highlighting their strategic political alliance, which seeks to unify opposition voices and present a formidable challenge to the ruling government in the upcoming polls.

Speaking during the joint session, Jubilee Secretary-General emphasized the importance of unity among opposition parties, saying the collaboration with PNU was a historic step toward strengthening democratic processes and providing voters with credible alternatives.

PNU leadership echoed this sentiment, describing the partnership as a strategic alignment built on shared values and mutual objectives.

Political analysts note that the alliance could significantly influence the 2027 electoral race, particularly in swing regions where both parties have historically enjoyed strong support.

“This is not just a tactical move; it signals a broader intent to reshape the opposition narrative and present a united front against fragmentation,” said one analyst.

The communiqué also outlined key areas of cooperation, including coordinated campaign strategies, joint policy formulation and a unified approach to addressing national issues such as economic growth, security, and governance reforms.

Both parties stressed that the alliance is not a merger but a strategic partnership designed to maximize their collective impact in the electoral contest.

While supporters have hailed the move as a decisive step toward a more organized opposition, critics argue that the coalition may face internal challenges in reconciling differences on leadership, policy priorities and candidate nominations.

However, party leaders assured members and the public that mechanisms for dispute resolution and consensus building have been put in place to maintain cohesion.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, political watchers will be keenly observing how this partnership unfolds, with many predicting that the Jubilee-PNU alliance could redefine Kenya’s political alliances and voter dynamics.
