Siaya Governor James Orengo has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing the Head of State of seeking absolute economic and political control over the nation.
Addressing constituents during a public gathering, the senior counsel turned politician alleged that the executive branch is systematically consolidating public resources, key infrastructure, and strategic state assets under central control.
Orengo claimed to possess concrete documentary evidence proving that the administration is quietly orchestrating the takeover of prime public lands, major development corridors, and lucrative state-backed economic ventures.
According to the Siaya county chief, the ruling coalition is utilizing legislative mechanisms, state machinery, and executive orders to dilute regional governance authority while expanding personal and institutional influence across key economic sectors.
He argued that these moves threaten the spirit of devolution by eroding county revenue streams and centralizing national wealth.
The allegations mark a significant escalation in the ongoing political friction between opposition aligned regional governors and the central government.
Orengo warned that concentrating vast economic power within the presidency creates dangerous monopolistic tendencies, risks marginalizing vulnerable communities, and undermines democratic checks and balances enshrined in the constitution.
He emphasized that local administration and public ownership must be safeguarded to prevent state resources from being converted into political commodities.
