Supporters who gathered for a grassroots mobilization meeting were told that negotiations are not about symbolism or handshakes, but about securing tangible influence in government.

Leaders emphasized that any pact must guarantee meaningful participation in decision-making structures.

The assurances came from leaders allied to the Linda Ground faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), under the stewardship of party leader Oburu Oginga.

Speaking during a consultative forum, Oburu affirmed that ODM would not enter into a pre-election agreement without clear benefits for its supporters.

We are not going into negotiations blindly,” Oburu said. “If there is to be cooperation, it must translate into beneficial power that reflects the strength and contribution of our people.”

The talks are expected to involve President William Ruto’s ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), in what observers see as a strategic move ahead of the 2027 contest.

While no formal agreement has been signed, insiders indicate that preliminary discussions are underway to explore areas of mutual interest.

ODM leaders aligned with the Linda Ground wing insist that their objective is to negotiate from a position of strength.

They argue that political partnerships must deliver development projects, policy influence, and fair representation in key government appointments.

The emerging discourse comes at a time when political alliances are beginning to take shape earlier than usual.

However, the possibility of collaboration has stirred mixed reactions within ODM ranks.

Some grassroots members have expressed concern about aligning with a party they have previously opposed fiercely.

In response, Oburu reassured supporters that consultations would continue and that no decision would be imposed without internal consensus.

Political observers note that if successfully negotiated, the pact could significantly reshape the electoral landscape.

A structured agreement between ODM’s Linda Ground faction and UDA would likely influence parliamentary contests, gubernatorial races and even presidential calculations.

For now, the message from Oburu and his allies is clear any handshake must carry substance.

As pre-election maneuvers gather momentum, all eyes will be on how the negotiations unfold and whether promises of beneficial power will translate into a concrete political deal.
