Speaking during high level engagements on Africa’s development priorities, leaders emphasized that the continent already possesses the resources, talent and opportunities needed to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity.
However, they noted that Africa must accelerate reforms and strengthen cooperation to fully harness its capabilities.
At the center of the agenda is the urgent need for domestic resource mobilisation to finance Africa’s development at scale. Leaders argued that African countries can no longer rely heavily on external borrowing and donor support to fund critical projects.

Expanded road, rail, port and digital infrastructure projects are expected to support the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and unlock new business opportunities across borders.
The continent’s energy transition agenda equally featured prominently in discussions, with African governments seeking to balance industrial growth with environmental sustainability.
Leaders called for increased investments in renewable energy, green industrialisation, and climate-resilient technologies that can drive economic expansion while reducing carbon emissions.
Youth empowerment was also identified as critical to Africa’s future success. With Africa possessing one of the youngest populations globally, governments are prioritizing skills development in technology, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Leaders noted that empowering young people with modern digital skills will help create jobs, stimulate startups, and position Africa competitively in the global digital economy.
Analysts say the renewed focus on African-led solutions reflects growing confidence among leaders that the continent can shape its own economic destiny through unity, innovation and strategic planning.
As Africa continues to position itself for long-term transformation, leaders maintain that collaboration, bold policymaking, and investment in people will be essential in building a prosperous, self-reliant, and globally competitive continent.
