The Teachers Service Commission has come under renewed scrutiny after fresh calls for the commission to disclose detailed teacher recruitment data covering the period between 2022 and 2026 days after Moses Wetangula alleged letters are directly given at statehouse.
The demand has sparked attention among teachers, job seekers and education stakeholders, with questions now being raised over how recruitment exercises have been conducted and distributed across the country in recent years especially with some unemployed teachers being older while recent graduates secure jobs.
According to a report highlighted in media the TSC has been asked to provide recruitment information covering the four-year period. The disclosure could offer a clearer picture of the number of teachers recruited, the areas that benefited and how the available positions were allocated.
This comes as Kenyans continue suffering at hands of corrupt leaders in the institution with the Issue affecting even promotions. The demand for disclosure is therefore likely to fuel further debate over transparency and accountability within the recruitment process causing panic that could later become justic.
If released in full, the records could provide the public with an opportunity to examine recruitment trends and compare the number of positions advertised with the actual number of teachers employed. All attention has been directed to TSC to see wether they will respond in time.
