Trouble in Opposition as Caleb Amisi Goes After Natembeya, Makes Unexpected Declarations

NAIROBI, Kenya — Cracks within the united opposition movement continue to widen, presenting a growing headache for Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna as he seeks to consolidate a formidable coalition to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.

With prominent figures moving in different directions—such as Embakasi East MP Babu Owino pursuing separate political activities under his newly formed outfit—Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has now turned his sights on Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.

Taking to his official social media platforms, Amisi publicly accused Natembeya of acting as a state operative deployed to destabilize and divide the united opposition from within. To substantiate his explosive claims, Amisi shared photographs showing Natembeya alongside President Ruto, challenging critics to prove his own political independence.

“He was given one assignment: to go and break any opposition movement. He is doing it well, so far! Now, show me one photo of Caleb with the oppressor? NOT AI-generated. Real evidence. Mumenizoea sana huku nje. Nitatoa one by one. We need to judge all of us fairly,” Amisi posted.

Amisi further alleged that state backing was evident after Natembeya’s recent court cases collapsed unexpectedly and his associates involved in past disruptions were released.

Beyond coalition politics, the Saboti lawmaker accused the Trans Nzoia governor of neglecting county operations while heavily invested in Nairobi politics.

Amisi highlighted severe disruptions in county service delivery, alleging that county workers have endured up to eight months without salary payments, forcing health workers home and leaving county hospitals in a dilapidated state.

He claimed that while local government workers demonstrate daily and children miss school due to financial strain, political operatives and bloggers linked to opposition factions are capitalizing on diverted public funds.

Amisi concluded his statement by referencing internal party politics, mocking Natembeya over a failed party takeover attempt and suggesting his political influence in the region is fading. Sifuna now faces mounting pressure to intervene swiftly and restore order before internal rivalries derail the opposition’s unified front ahead of 2027.
