Speaking during his development tour of the county, the Head of State said the projects will significantly improve connectivity, reduce travel time and lower transportation costs for businesses and local communities.

He noted that the roads will also open up the region for investment and tourism, particularly around the famous Shimba Hills National Reserve and surrounding forest areas.

According to President Ruto, improved road networks are critical in supporting economic growth by making it easier for farmers, traders and entrepreneurs to access markets and essential services.

He added that the government remains committed to ensuring all regions benefit equally from national development projects.

The President said the Kinango Modern Market will provide a better trading environment for small-scale traders and help stimulate business activities in the region.

He explained that modern markets are part of the government’s broader plan to empower local economies, create jobs and improve incomes among wananchi.

Residents and local leaders who attended the inspection welcomed the projects, saying they are expected to ease movement of goods and people while boosting tourism-related businesses along the Coast.

The road is also expected to improve access to schools, hospitals and other public services in remote parts of the county.

Later, while addressing residents in Kwale town, President Ruto urged Kenyans to reject politics driven by hatred, ethnicity and division. He said the country can only achieve meaningful development through unity, inclusivity and peaceful coexistence among all communities.

The President assured residents that his administration is focused on building an inclusive nation where every Kenyan feels represented regardless of tribe, religion or political affiliation.

He called on leaders across the political divide to prioritize national unity and development instead of engaging in divisive rhetoric.

“We must work together as one people and one nation. Kenya belongs to all of us, and development should unite rather than divide us,” Ruto said.

The President’s remarks come at a time when political temperatures in the country continue to rise amid growing debate over the cost of living and national leadership.

The Kwale tour forms part of the government’s ongoing nationwide infrastructure and economic empowerment campaign aimed at accelerating development and creating opportunities across different regions of the country.
