MP Junet Mohammed has broken his silence on persistent claims that he was responsible for Raila Odinga’s loss in the last general election.
He firmly dismissed the allegations and pointing to his continued close relationship with the former Prime Minister as proof of trust and confidence.
Speaking candidly during an interview with Jeff Koinange the Suna East lawmaker said it would be illogical to accuse him of sabotaging Raila’s presidential bid when the ODM leader retained him as one of his most trusted allies even after the bruising election defeat.
Junet noted that political betrayals often lead to fallout, something that has clearly not happened between him and Raila.
Junet emphasized that immediately after the election, Raila appointed him to a key leadership position in Parliament, a move he says speaks volumes about the level of faith placed in him.
He argued that such a decision would not have been possible if there were doubts about his loyalty or commitment during the campaign.

The outspoken MP, who has been a vocal defender of Raila and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), said internal party politics should not be reduced to blame games whenever electoral outcomes do not favor the opposition.
He warned that spreading unfounded accusations only weakens party unity and distracts from the broader struggle for democratic reforms.
Junet also reaffirmed his loyalty to Raila, describing him as a seasoned statesman who values trust, consistency, and performance over political propaganda.
He said Raila’s decision to keep him close after the election demonstrates maturity and an ability to separate facts from political noise.
The MP urged ODM supporters to focus on strengthening party structures, mobilizing grassroots support, and preparing strategically for future political contests instead of revisiting divisive narratives.
According to Junet, the opposition’s strength lies in unity and honest introspection rather than scapegoating individuals.
His remarks come amid renewed debate within opposition circles over the last election and growing pressure on party leaders to explain what went wrong.
Junet’s statement is likely to reignite discussions but also serves as a strong defense of his political standing within Raila Odinga’s inner circle.
