Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has travelled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for a two day official visit aimed at strengthening Kenya’s bilateral and strategic partnerships with its northern neighbour.

The visit comes at a time when Kenya and Ethiopia are seeking to deepen cooperation in trade, security, infrastructure development and regional diplomacy.

Addis Ababa, which hosts the African Union (AU) headquarters, remains a key diplomatic hub for Kenya’s foreign policy engagements in the Horn of Africa.

During the visit, Mudavadi is expected to hold talks with senior Ethiopian government officials, focusing on enhancing political cooperation and expanding economic ties between the two countries.

Discussions are also set to touch on cross border trade, transport corridors and investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, energy and manufacturing sectors where both countries see mutual benefit.

Security collaboration is another key area on the agenda, with Kenya and Ethiopia sharing concerns over regional stability in the Horn of Africa.

Officials are expected to review ongoing joint efforts to address cross border crime, terrorism and humanitarian challenges, while reaffirming their commitment to peaceful coexistence and regional stability.

Mudavadi is also scheduled to engage with officials at the African Union, underscoring Kenya’s continued support for multilateral diplomacy and African led solutions to continental challenges.

Kenya has consistently played an active role in AU peace initiatives, mediation efforts and institutional reforms and the visit is expected to reaffirm Nairobi’s commitment to these shared goals.
