Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has placed a bold public wager, promising to award KSh 1 million to each guest attending a consultative meeting at his home if President William Ruto secures significant electoral support in Luo Nyanza.
Speaking directly to supporters and delegates gathered at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County, the former second-in-command delivered a sharp critique of the current administration.
Gachagua asserted that public dissatisfaction with the Kenya Kwanza government has reached a tipping point, claiming citizens across regions are eager to vote the administration out in upcoming elections.

To underscore his conviction regarding the administration’s waning popularity in opposition strongholds, Gachagua issued a high-stakes challenge to the attendees present at his residence.
“William Ruto akipata ata 30% of the vote in Luo Nyanza, each and every one of you come and collect KSh 1 million from me. I have made a bet with you,” Gachagua declared.
The statement drew immediate reactions from the gathered audience, highlighting the intensifying political friction between the former Deputy President and the executive.
By singling out Luo Nyanza—a region historically aligned with opposition politics—Gachagua aimed to highlight what he views as an insurmountable electoral hurdle for the incumbent president.
The consultative gathering in Nyeri is part of a series of regional engagements where political leaders are consolidating bases and evaluating grassroots sentiment.
Gachagua’s open challenge reflects the sharp rhetoric defining current national political debate as key figures position themselves ahead of future political contests.
