President William Ruto has finally broken his silence following a high-profile Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) meeting held at Kamukunji Grounds, where party leaders discussed the possibility of a political pact ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, after hosting senior United Democratic Alliance (UDA) officials, President Ruto openly declared his intention to work closely with the ODM party beyond 2027.

The Head of State said his administration is already laying the groundwork for structured political engagement aimed at fostering long-term cooperation between the two parties.

“We are establishing mechanisms for structured engagement with the ODM Party to deepen political cooperation, build consensus on shared priorities, and provide a clear framework for dialogue, coordination, and partnership,” Ruto stated.

According to the President, the objective of the engagement is to strengthen the ongoing political partnership, promote stable governance, and prepare the ground for a possible formal coalition arrangement ahead of the 2027 polls.

He emphasized that Kenya’s political stability and economic progress require inclusive leadership and cooperation across party lines.

Rutomade the remarks while presiding over a United Democratic Alliance National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at State House.

The meeting reviewed the party’s overall progress, including the outcome of recent grassroots elections conducted across the country.

UDA officials reportedly expressed satisfaction with the exercise, terming it a major step toward strengthening the party’s structures at the grassroots level.

The President’s comments come amid growing political realignments, with ODM’s Kamukunji meeting widely viewed as a signal of possible future collaboration.

As the 2027 General Election draws closer, Ruto’s declaration is expected to reshape the political landscape and spark fresh debate on emerging alliances and coalitions.
