EALA MP Winnie Odinga has expressed gratitude to President William Ruto, saying he has been the only senior political leader to personally check on and support her family since the passing of her father, the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking in an emotional reflection on her family’s journey after the loss, Winnie Odinga highlighted the importance of personal gestures of solidarity during times of grief.
Since my father passed on, the only senior leadership that has come to check up and take care of our family has been President Ruto,” she said.
She emphasized that political differences do not prevent her from acknowledging kindness and respect.
I can still like you and disagree with you. I must also be grateful for the honour and respect the President accorded my father when he passed on,” Winnie Odinga added.
Her comments come amidst ongoing political realignments in Kenya, where loyalty and political alliances are often closely scrutinized.

She noted that her family has been her anchor, helping her manage both the emotional and practical challenges that followed the loss.
“Life without my father has been challenging. Some days are good, and some days are difficult, but my family has been a strong source of support,” she said.
