The West Kabras Ward by-election has been hit by a wave of controversy after Malava Member of Parliament, Hon. Ndakwa, issued a stinging attack against former Kakamega Senator and DCP Deputy Party Leader, Cleophas Malala.

In a video shared across his social media platforms today, the legislator accused Malala of orchestrating the deployment of armed goons across the ward.

According to the MP, this is a “tactical and desperate move” specifically designed to intimidate residents and suppress voter turnout in strongholds perceived to be unfriendly to the DCP candidate.

“We have seen vehicles filled with strangers roaming the villages.

This is a clear attempt by Malala and his team to scare our people from the polling stations,” the MP stated in the video.

“We want a free and fair process, not one dictated by the barrels of a gun or the threats of hired militia.”

The MP further called upon the Ministry of Interior and local security agencies to act with speed to restore order, noting that the presence of such groups threatens the integrity of the by-election currently underway.

The West Kabras contest has become a high-stakes political battlefield, drawing national attention.

The UDA Party has heavily invested in the region, with high-profile figures like Farouk Kibet leading a high-octane campaign to secure the seat.

As voting continues, all eyes are on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and security forces to see if they can contain the rising temperatures.

The outcome of this by-election is seen as a crucial litmus test for party supremacy in Kakamega County ahead of the next general cycle.
