Political Drama in Kiambu as Koimburi Threatens to Clear Out DCP Office

A political storm is brewing in Kiambu after Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi declared his intention to repossess furniture.

He claims to have personally contributed to the office of the Deputy County Commissioner (DCP).

The statement, which has quickly gone viral, has reignited debate about the relationship between elected leaders and national government administrators.

Speaking to supporters during a public address, Koimburi said the furniture was donated in good faith. The donation supports the smooth running of government operations in the area.

However, he argued that the goodwill behind the contribution had since been undermined, prompting him to reconsider his gesture.

According to the MP, the office has allegedly been used to frustrate him politically rather than serve residents impartially.

Koimburi accused the DCP’s office of working against his development agenda and claimed that state administrators were being deployed to sabotage leaders who do not align with certain political interests.

If my support is being used to fight me, then I have no reason to leave my personal contributions there,” he said, insisting that his decision was justified.

The MP’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions across Kiambu County and beyond.

Some of his supporters argue that leaders who contribute resources to public offices should not be mistreated or sidelined, saying Koimburi is standing up against intimidation.

Others, however, have questioned the propriety of politicians donating items to government offices. They warn that such arrangements blur the line between public service and political patronage.

Governance experts note that community support for public institutions is common. However, contributions to offices such as those of county commissioners can raise ethical concerns. They can also lead to administrative concerns.

They argue that public offices should be fully equipped using taxpayer funds to avoid perceptions of influence or ownership by individual politicians.

Officials from the DCP Kiambu office have not issued a formal response to Koimburi’s claims.

However, sources within the administration describe the MP’s threat as unfortunate and say government offices belong to the state, not individual leaders, regardless of who donated equipment.

Whether Koimburi will act on his threat remains to be seen, but the debate it has sparked is unlikely to fade anytime soon.
