Tana River County Governor Godhana Dhadho Gaddae has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of neglecting the county and failing to deliver on its promises.
Speaking during a public forum in Hola Town, Governor Godhana expressed frustration over what he termed as “years of empty rhetoric” from the national government. He
claimed that despite multiple assurances, Tana River has continued to lag behind in development while other counties benefit from major infrastructure projects.
“For the time I have served as governor, the national government has been making fake promises to the people of Tana River. We
have not seen any tangible projects,” Godhana lamented. He added that the people of Tana River deserve equal treatment and inclusion in national development plans.
The governor cited stalled road constructions, poor access to clean water, and delayed power connectivity as examples of the government’s failure to honor its pledges. He
further accused top national officials of visiting the region only during election seasons to make political statements without follow-up action.
Residents attending the meeting echoed the governor’s concerns, calling on the Kenya Kwanza government to prioritize Tana River in upcoming budget allocations. Many
urged President Ruto to personally intervene and ensure that promised projects are implemented.
Governor Godhana emphasized that his administration remains open to collaboration but will continue to speak out against injustice and inequality.
“We are not asking for favors — we are demanding fairness and development like any other county,” he concluded.
His remarks come amid growing discontent among leaders from marginalized regions who accuse the national government of sidelining them in its development agenda.
