The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is poised to reinvent itself as a ruling party, according to party stalwart Junet Mohamed.
Speaking during a press briefing at the party headquarters, Mohamed emphasized that ODM is preparing to take on responsibilities traditionally reserved for government leaders, signaling a significant shift in the party’s strategy.
ODM will no longer be an opposition party but a ruling party,” Mohamed declared. “We are ready to govern, to provide solutions and to lead the country with a vision for development and inclusivity.”
This announcement comes at a time of heightened political maneuvering in Kenya, with ODM seeking to expand its influence beyond traditional strongholds in western Kenya.
Analysts say this move could reshape the political landscape, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mohamed outlined several key priorities for the party, including economic growth, youth empowerment and a stronger social safety net.
“We have learned from being in opposition, but now it’s time to put our plans into action. Our people deserve leadership that works,” he said.
