Ugandan opposition leader and presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has accused the military of raiding his hotel in Lira City, where he was scheduled to hold a campaign rally.
Taking to his official social media platforms on Tuesday evening, Bobi Wine claimed that heavily armed police and military officers stormed his hotel with the intention of arresting him and disrupting his planned event.
According to him, the raid was allegedly led by an officer identified as Moses Mukiibi.“Our hotel in Lira City has been raided by police and the military commanded by one Moses Mukiibi.They
are currently breaking into rooms,” Bobi Wine wrote. “Their goal is to arrest me and force me out of the city so I cannot campaign against President Museveni.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader further accused President Yoweri Museveni’s government of using intimidation and brute force to silence opposition voices ahead of the upcoming elections.He
He alleged that the authorities have consistently frustrated his campaign trail, blocking meetings, arresting his supporters, and using excessive force to disperse crowds.
Eyewitnesses in Lira City confirmed seeing several military trucks around the hotel premises as security personnel conducted searches.

However, local police have not yet issued an official statement regarding the alleged operation.
