Authorities have arrested one suspect and confiscated more than 5,000 litres of illicit alcohol. The operation was conducted by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA). This took place in Emali, Makueni County.

The raid took place in the early hours of the morning. It was part of a multi-agency crackdown. This operation targeted illegal alcohol production and distribution networks. These networks have continued to endanger public health.

NACADA officers, working alongside police and local administrators, stormed several premises suspected to be brewing and storing counterfeit alcohol.

During the operation, officers discovered large containers filled with raw and ready-to-sell illicit brews. These brews are believed to be destined for nearby towns and transport corridors.

The seized alcohol was immediately destroyed under supervision, while equipment used in the brewing process was confiscated.

The suspect arrested was found guarding one of the storage sites and is currently in police custody, awaiting arraignment. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals believed to be part of the illegal operation.
